Intergenerational Healer

IN HER OWN WORDS:

“As much as my MD refers to Doctor of Medicine, it more importantly stands for Mother and Daughter. Adolescence and Middlescence are tender thresholds where transformation takes place”

“Presence is my stethoscope. And if we’re still enough to listen, we hear the heartbeat of Mother Earth”

“In the liminal spaces, we find the light that leads us back home”

Yasodha Gopal MD

About YASODHA: Yasodha Gopal’s unique and integrative conversational medicine has been a wellspring of holistic healing for all ages to gain clarity about their personal vision for their multifaceted lives. She harnesses the power of individual courage, focused creativity, and grounded conversation about change to catapult those in her care into a sense of true belonging. Yasodha uses guided meditation and visionating (creating a vision) as key components of her intention of intergenerational healing. Whether navigating adolescence or middlescence, these transitions mark the threshold of new awakenings to oneself and one’s rich environment that can lead to deep self-compassion and awareness. The testimonials of those she has helped demonstrate her remarkable intuitive energy and presence as a healer for these times of accelerated change.

Yasodha has been practicing pediatric and adolescent medicine for over 25 years, cherishing deep connections with her patients and their families including her new generation of “grandpatients” who have returned with their once-patient parents for the ultimate in continuity of care. Horizon Pediatrics is where she cares for a patient population of 80 percent underserved children and families. She also has an expansive role as a well-being coach devoted to intergenerational healing since 2015. She graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1994 after majoring in Psychobiology at UCLA. Yasodha was then selected for the distinguished Pediatric residency at Harvard Medical School’s Primary Care Track at The Children’s Hospital, Boston. The native Californian and her husband have raised their three children in Portland, Oregon. She embraces both the art of medicine and the medicine of art —as a poet, visual artist, and an activist/advocate for children. In addition to starting GOPAL gallery in 2014, she has served on nonprofit education and arts foundation boards for youth in Portland, Oregon, and as a medical consultant for an orphanage in India. She began HOME as a result of the pandemic and the needs of youth and parents in this time of great loss and grief.

About HOME: “It is my sacred privilege to offer the blessings of HOME to all those who are magnetized to realize their highest potential. These times ask us to look at our ancestral inheritance as gifts, both the wounds and the wisdom, and collectively find our way HOME. In this space, we transform all longing into deep belonging. HOME is our body that deserves love and nurturance, HOME is the family that has imprinted upon us both challenges and blessings, HOME is seeing our community and our world with all its grief and all its grace— knowing it as our Heaven On Mother Earth where we all truly belong. HOME is the reciprocal blessing, a journey of true interior design, an intuitive clarion call, and an invitation to awaken to the healer within.”

A Handful of Love Notes

“Several months ago, I was about ready to end myself, I believed I shouldn’t be here and it would be better if I was gone. Dr. Gopal helped me to acknowledge my issues, to talk about them and to face them. At first, I was shut off and eventually I was able to open up. She helped me to realize I have a purpose and that I could move past this. Today, I am happy, healthy, and beautiful and I have learned to love myself. She helped me through it until I could do it on my own and she is really inspirational. Her positivity lights up a room and was helpful to me when I was going through such a rough time. She is easy to talk to and is a very understanding person. I am so grateful for her help. I recommend her to others going through tough times. Believe me, its not as bad as you think it is and you deserve to be here”
